Just a quick update on happening for the year. More people are finding out we have a Museum, and our donations are different as when we started. We are receiving more documents, old pictures, stamp books, and smaller items.

Each year, the Michigan Constitution requires an inflation rate be calculated to be used for property tax purposes. The state used the federal Consumer Price Index to set the rate. For property tax assessments that will be mailed next March, the official inflation factor will be 2.7 percent. This would impact any property that is increasing in value or where there is a difference between the taxable value and state equalized value.

The Attica Township Museum will be open on election day November 2, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. Stop in and see Janet O’Donnell and all the memorabilia from Attica’s past. Refreshments will be served.
Have you stopped in to see the Attica Museum yet? Janet O’Donnell has been busy displaying, cataloging and organizing all the memorabilia and materials left to us by the Attica Historical Society.
Janet is looking for pictures of Attica Park when it was in the first stages of development, and she would appreciate any newspaper articles, documents or other memorabilia from Attica Township. She is at the museum most Thursdays, why don’t you stop by and see what she’s done.

As we begin 2010 as individuals and Township Officials our hope is that the roller coaster economic situation that has affected everyone of us will be short lived. However I do not see this challenging period being over for the foreseeable future. There is evidence that things may worsen further and push the recovery well into the next decade. Everyone needs to know that roughly 30% of the Township’s annual budget comes from State Revenue Sharing (a portion of sales tax we all pay throughout the year). There has been a dramatic decrease in Revenue Sharing over the past few years due to the economic conditions within our state and nation. (more…)
